Terra Linda, San Rafael
Just north of downtown San Rafael, and west of the Marin Civic Center, is the mid-century and mid-century modern neighborhood of Terra Linda. Although Terra Linda is primarily a residential area, it is a self-sufficient community with plenty of conveniences, including the Northgate Mall and several smaller shopping centers stretched out along Las Gallinas Avenue and Freitas Parkway.
Embraced on three sides by the open spaces of the Terra Linda-Sleepy Hollow Divide, Terra Linda is a family oriented community with lots to do. Whether it is hiking the trails of the surrounding hillsides, swimming on the local swim team, or shopping at the mall, there is something for everyone. The bi-weekly Farmers Market at the Marin Civic Center is a popular destination for family fun and food. Terra Linda has parks and playgrounds for the kids, playing fields and courts for sports, and a Community Center that offers fun activities and classes for the entire family.

There are, in fact, two separate Eichler tracts in Terra Linda. Terra Linda South features 225 homes built by Joseph Eichler between 1958 and 1960. A larger Eichler community can be found in Terra Linda North with 625 Eichler homes that were built between 1955 and 1961 and include several two-story Eichlers.
