Tam Valley Neighborhood | Tamalpais Valley

Just ten minutes north of San Francisco is the quiet Mill Valley neighborhood of Tamalpais Valley - better known to locals as Tam Valley.  Bound on the north and the east by Highway 1 and the coastal hills to the west, Tam Valley is a gateway to Tamalpais State Park, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and West Marin.

Tam Valley is a somewhat undiscovered part of Mill Valley.  To many it is just a place to pass through on the way to Muir Woods or Stinson Beach.  Residents, however, know otherwise.  Although there are no shops or commercial enterprises in the area, there are municipal parks, hiking and biking trails, and plenty of places to roam.  It is the best of two worlds, peaceful and rural with the conveniences of downtown Mill Valley just minutes away.

Tam Valley's attractions include the excellent schools that are part of the Mill Valley School District.  Most younger kids go to Tam Valley Elementary while older students attend Mill Valley Middle School, then finish their secondary education at Tamalpais High School.

Tam Valley Real Estate

As is true with so much of Mill Valley real estate, a wide variety of architectural style can be found in Tam Valley.  Homes range from older bungalows and cabins to mid-century ranch styles.  Many were built prior to the 1960s, but some stunning contemporary homes can be found perched high in the hills.

Tam Valley real estate can be a bargain by Marin standards.  Newer and remodeled home prices are competitive with other Mill Valley areas, but the lucky few might be able to get a foot in the door for around $800,000.
