Located just off Highway 101, Marinwood is the first stop on the drive out to West Marin via Lucas Valley Road. As San Rafael's northernmost neighborhood, Marinwood is a quiet suburban community of 1900 acres bordered by 800 acres of open space. Marinwood, which is also referred to as Lower Lucas Valley, is a close-knit, family-oriented community. All three are award winning San Rafael schools. Most high school students go to nearby Terra Linda High School, although a few elect to travel a bit farther afield and attend San Rafael High.
