About Janis Peterson
An experienced Marin County real estate agent, I have spent over 20 years honing my sales and marketing talents. Prior to entering the real estate profession, I held increasingly responsible positions in health care sales, marketing and communications. My unmatched business development skills combined with a highly effective communication style have largely contributed to the success I’ve enjoyed as a Realtor and the respect of my colleagues throughout the county.
A long-time Marin resident and homeowner, I am active in my local San Rafael community and on the Board of the West End Neighborhood Association. I have sold homes in every community in Marin. My down to earth easy going manner compliments a no nonsense business style that achieves the desired results for my clients. Nothing is more important to me than a satisfied client. I recognized early on that real estate is a relationship-driven business and I invest my time and energy into making the relationship with my clients’ both satisfying and long-lasting. I had worked with another realtor (of another firm) for several months, but I was increasingly being shown properties in poor condition, inappropriate for my needs, and/or beyond my means.
I was referred to Janis by my mother. Janis was great in setting expectations. She made it clear that short sales/foreclosures could be a nightmare (but made many calls on one such property I was interested in anyway). She also was very clued into new listings, and made initial calls to listing agents for more information before she contacted me about them. When I went on my own to open houses, the listing agents had always heard of Janis and had positive things to say. Janis Peterson was a wonderful help during a recent home sale where I was the executor of an estate following the death of long time San Rafael resident, Father Robello. Because I live an hour and a half from San Rafael and have other obligations, I needed someone who could "take the ball and run with it." Janis was exactly that sort of person.
She came to the first interview well prepared and had researched recent sales in the area. Once she accepted her duties as our realtor, she immediately went to work to get the house ready for sale. She called the termite inspector and then had the needed work done. She got the home thoroughly cleaned, painted and staged. When the house went on the market, it sold within a week!
Janis continued to work with the buyer and their realtor to get the necessary paperwork accomplished and when there was a question of delay, she worked to push the project ahead to completion.
