Forbes Neighborhood, San Rafael | Fairhills Area

Located on the northwest side of downtown San Rafael, the Fairhills / Forbes community is a well-situated neighborhood that combines the convenience of easily accessible downtown amenities with the natural beauty of the surrounding hillsides.

The southernmost section of Fairhills borders the culturally rich Fifth and Mission District of downtown San Rafael and maintains a charming old-world character. Nearby Boyd Park provides recreational activities for residents, young and old alike.  This 42-acre park features a playground, tennis court, and picnic tables.  The Marin History Museum is also located in Boyd Park.

Most children in the Fairhills/Forbes neighborhood attend Sun Valley Elementary School and Davidson Middle School.  High schoolers have a choice; the San Rafael High School District is an open enrollment district, so high school students have the option of attending either San Rafael High School or Terra Linda High School.  The prestigious Marin Academy is also located in the area.

Fairhills / Forbes Real Estate

The southern section of Fairhills shares a boundary with downtown San Rafael.  Homes in this area are older and reflect the historic nature of the neighborhood. This San Rafael real estate includes gracious Victorians and charming craftsman bungalows.  More contemporary properties can be found on the hillsides, where new homes have been built to take advantage of the natural surroundings.

Forbes / Fairhills Home Prices: $650k - $2.5M, Median Price: $1.2M

Fairhills/Forbes is essentially built-out and very little new development is taking place.   There are, however, still a few vacant hillside lots available on which to build a custom home.
