As a Realtor, I find myself mentioning this tidbit of information regularly while showing homes in Sausalito, Belvedere and Tiburon.

I recently visited a townhome for sale in Sausallto. The agent had to wait two days to get us in because the owner had put his unit

on the market as an Airbnb touting it for its remarkable views of the Bay and (soon to be) America's Cup

The next time that The America's Cup comes to town will be July fourth week-end for the beginning of the Louis Vuitton Trials.

Then the boats will most likely stay through the big event.

The America's Cup Challenge is the last event on September 7th and may possibly go as late as September 23rd, 2013.

I was curious how they decide who the winning team will be for the America's Cup. Here is what I found: The first boat to win 9

races wins the America's Cup. However, up to 17 races, if required, can be held to decide the Match. They aim to hold up to 2

races per racing day when possible.

Here are the San Francisco America's Cup dates:

Opening Series
July 4-7: Special events, expected to include Fleet Racing.
Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robin
July 9-August 2: Challenger Candidates compete against each other in match racing, up to 21 days of racing.  Defender Trials to be held simultaneously.
Louis Vuitton Cup SemiFinals
August 3-16: Challenger Candidates compete against each other in match racing, up to 7 days of racing.  Defender Trials to be held simultaneously.
Louis Vuitton Cup Final
August 17-30: Challenger Candidates compete against each other in match racing, up to 7 days of racing.  Defender Trials to be held simultaneously.
America's Cup Match
THE BIG EVENT: September 7-23: 34th Defense of the America's Cup.
