A couple of years ago I attended a local water district forum about water conservation thru drought tolerant plantings.  It was held in the grand ballroom of a local hotel.  I was shocked when I walked in and the place was packed!  I expected maybe a 100 or so folks....there were easily 1-2,000 in attendance!  Everyone was there for the same reason: to hear about taking out our thirsty yards and replace with water conserving plants.  As I mentioned, that was a few years ago and as we all know, now it is even more important that we all get serious about conserving water.

I had the perfect and beautiful front yard....lovely grass, no weeds, beautiful bushes, gardener came every week, sprinklers went on 5+/times per week....and I always had a high

Having moved from the Midwest last year, my clients were ecstatic to become first-time Marin homeowners!  Finding a completely remodeled home in the Dixie school district was their priority goal.  Being patient and persistent in their search as well as working with a fantastic mortgage broker, they were able to jump in and grab this property at the right moment.

Entering from the charming white picket fenced front yard, this 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom contemporary property felt like home the first time they saw it!  Hardwood floors, central A/C, a butler's pantry and crown molding throughout were just a few of the many features this home offered the buyers.

I know they will create many wonderful memories in this fantastic family home!

During this festive time of the year, we are all looking for special treats to give or to serve.

I wanted to share two of my very favorites with you: Gramma Betty's Cheesecake & Gaya's Cheeseballs

The cheesecake is my mother-in -law's recipe and is hands-down, absolutely fantastic!  I make this cheesecake throughout the year, but during this festive holiday time, it is fabulous served with chilled cherries of any sort.

Years ago, my dear friend, Gaya, invited me to help her make 50 cheeseballs that she gives to friends and families as holiday gifts. I thought she was crazy...cheeseballs as gifts?  Well, one taste and I was hooked...they are the best!  They became my new holiday gift tradition too.  A family tradition at our house has become

This is so easy and fun to do!  You will love it every time you drive up to your house!!

Put 12 or more pumpkins (gourds and squashes too) around under bushes and strewn around the yard.  Turn some upside down, some sideways, etc.  It's great to use different shapes, sizes and colors!  You don't have to spend a fortune either....pumpkins start going on sale at some of the groceries mid-October. I found mine as low as $3.99 each for nice sized ones at TJ's this year.  Pumpkin patches will obviously have the most interesting and unique choices, but definitely at a price when you need/want so many (I have 15 in my yard).

You could also put some individual solar lights (like the kind you get for $2 each at your local home center store) near all or some
