According to statistics compiled from the Bareis MLS , there were 1937 sales of single family homes and condos in Marin County for the 1st 9 months of 2018. This compares with 1995 units sold in the same period of 2017, a decrease of 58 units or 2.9%. These statistics would seem to indicate that Marin County is performing better than much of the rest of the state. According to a November 12 blog post by CoreLogic, an Irvine, CA-based real estate information service, statewide sales of existing single family homes and condos in September were down 17.2%  from the same period a year ago. The report said this was the largest year-over-year decline "for any month in nearly eight years". The CoreLogic report also notes that in September the statewide

The sums of money changing hands in residential real estate transactions are considerable, often hundreds of thousands of dollars, and sometimes more. The preferred method of moving funds is the wire transfer; it's fast, and up until recently is has been secure and reliable. In an active real estate market like ours in Marin County, there can be several thousand such transfers every year. Nationwide, these regular transactions of large amounts of cash have attracted the attention of some very sophisticated criminals who have found a way to hijack communications between title/escrow companies, real estate agents, and their clients. These thieves intercept the emails, alter the wiring instructions, and then pass them on, hoping the alterations, which

Last month, we wrote about the old Royal Sweet Bakery building at 625 San Anselmo Avenue in Downtown San Anselmo. The new owners, Josh and Ashley Petersen,  have exciting plans to remodel the space and develop a concept restaurant featuring rooftop terrace dining and an interior courtyard. Josh and Ashley hosted an open house at the location on February 12 to answer residents' questions, just prior to the Planning Commission meeting where their proposal was presented. We are happy to hear that the project was approved! Recently, we sat down with Josh to talk about the plans.

As San Anselmo residents, Josh and Ashley were looking for a way to "create a gathering place" and contribute to the vitality of the Downtown area. They purchased the

The new owners of the old Royal Sweet Bakery building at 625 San Anselmo Avenue have exciting plans for a concept restaurant that proposes rooftop dining in Downtown San Anselmo. Josh and Ashley Petersen will host an open house at the location on Monday, February 12, at 6pm. They will be on hand to discuss and explain their plans for an hour, just before the Planning Commission meeting, where their application is scheduled to be discussed. Please come by to meet them and ask questions. Then plan to attend the Commission meeting to support their proposal, which would add an unique, enjoyable restaurant choice to the Downtown area, and attract shoppers to the other retail outlets nearby.

In the near future, we will sit down with the Petersens to get
