When deciding to move to Marin County from New York City a few years
ago, my husband and I knew we wanted to live in a place that was beautiful and
temperate all year round. Frankly, we were tired of the cold winters and
knowing our family would be growing we wanted to be somewhere very kid
friendly. A few years later, we are settled into San Rafael and couldn't
imagine our lives anywhere else. The ease of life whether it's going to the
park in the middle of winter, being close to shop...

Marin County offers several Montessori school options.
Whether you are relocating to Marin with young children or have lived here a
long time, but are in the process of researching Montessori options in Marin,
thought I’d write a little bit about a few of the schools I have researched and
know families whose children attend these schools.

Several Marin Montessori schools follow and are inspired
by the principles of Association Montessori International. If you are a n...

I have always loved the month of December; it's the start of the holiday season. There's no better way to celebrate than with a trip to see the Nutcracker. Now in its 23rd year, the Stapleton Ballet production features the story of Clara and her wild adventures with the Nutcracker. With new choreography and costumes, the stage will ignite with vibrance and excitement. Over 150 dancers from the Stapleton School of the Performing Arts will engage audience members young and old. It's...

What to do with all that extra candy your kids have hauled home from the Trick or Treating festivities?

Sell it to your local dentist, that's what!

Seriously, if you're in Marin, here's the spot to unload the candy, keep the cavities at bay and do something sweet for the troops that are overseas via Operation Gratitude.

Ahhh, Labor Day. Cue the sad music as it marks the end of
summer, and then cue the song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" as we
celebrate the children heading back to school.

I have compiled a list, a "One Last Hurrah" list if you
will, of things that you and your family can do this Labor Day weekend
throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Marin County Radon Levels and the Local Real Estate Market - What You Need To Know

In recent months I've had several clients ask me about radon testing. As a result, I thought it would be useful to provide a brief discussion about radon, what it is, why it is dangerous and how to determine whether your home is in a neighborhood with high radon levels.

Radon is a naturally occuring radioactive gas. It is odorless, invisible and without taste, and cannot be detected with the human senses. The only way to detect it is to test for it. Radon is released during the na...

As I was sitting on the deck of my Mill Valley home, I thought, the last breath of spring faded away yesterday, the promise of summer fun is here. Summertime in the Bay Area is a wonderful time-the days are warm, the breezes gentle, and there are lots of things to do with or without children. Along with the typical “touristy” attractions, like Alcatraz and Pier 39, I have included some events that take place off the beaten path, not only in...
