Why Residents of Marin County Love Living Here

When deciding to move to Marin County from New York City a few years ago, my husband and I knew we wanted to live in a place that was beautiful and temperate all year round. Frankly, we were tired of the cold winters and knowing our family would be growing we wanted to be somewhere very kid friendly. A few years later, we are settled into San Rafael and couldn't imagine our lives anywhere else. The ease of life whether it's going to the park in the middle of winter, being close to shopping or going out to a great dinner; it's all within our reach.

I joined a Mothers Club in Marin when my daughter was born and was fortunate to meet many families who live in Marin for similar reasons. As a Realtor, I felt it was important to blog why residents…

Whether you are relocating to Marin with young children or have lived here a long time, but are in the process of researching Montessori options in Marin, thought I’d write a little bit about a few of the schools I have researched and know families whose children attend these schools.

Several Marin Montessori schools follow and are inspired by the principles of Association Montessori International. If you are a new resident in the area and decide to look and enroll your children in schools connected to the international Montessori school, consider Abbey Montessori, Montessori de Terra Linda and Marin Montessori.

Montessori schools in Marin provide…

Marin County Upcoming Kid-Oriented Halloween Events

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at 10:26am. 197 Views, 0 Comments.

If you are looking for something festive to do with your kids in these final few days until Halloween - maybe something a little bit spooky, sweet, something to elicit giggles and gasps - our family-friendly county of Marin is abundant with options.  And it's nice that not only do they tend to be fun, but many are free to attend, including most of the ones listed below:

Farm-Hosted Pumpkin Patches

If you are up for a change in your pumpkin patch experience, and haven't been to one of the farm-hosted pumpkin patches, you should consider going to one.  Your kids will be in for a treat, as they trade the bouncy house of parking lot-variety pumpkin patches for something different - a hay maze, hay ride, tractor ride and/or a giant haystack…

Ahhh, Labor Day. Cue the sad music as it marks the end of summer, and then cue the song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" as we celebrate the children heading back to school.

I have compiled a list, a "One Last Hurrah" list if you will, of things that you and your family can do this Labor Day weekend throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you are looking for something you can do without the kids, check out Sonoma Wine Country Weekend in the beautiful Sonoma Valley. This event is always one for the books!

If the kids have been begging you to go to a movie, try Creek Park, on the 400 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd., in San Anselmo.…

Marin County Radon Levels and the Local Real Estate Market - What You Need To Know

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 at 4:23pm. 549 Views, 0 Comments.

In recent months I've had several clients ask me about radon testing.  As a result, I thought it would be useful to provide a brief discussion about radon, what it is, why it is dangerous and how to determine whether your home is in a neighborhood with high radon levels.

Deck Views from Mill Valley

As I was sitting on the deck of my Mill Valley home, I thought, the last breath of spring faded away yesterday, the promise of summer fun is here. Summertime in the Bay Area is a wonderful time-the days are warm, the breezes gentle, and there are lots of things to do with or without children. Along with the typical “touristy” attractions, like Alcatraz and Pier 39, I have included some events that take place off the beaten path, not only in San Francisco, but also in nearby Sonoma County.

Without The Kids:

  • Wine tasting on the Healdsburg Square- take the picturesque drive up Highway 101 to Wine Country. Healdsburg has a unique approach to wine tasting, offering many different wineries within…
