Mother's Day at Cavallo Point in Sausalito
Friday, May 11th, 2012 at 5:32pm. 130 Views, 0 Comments.
I went to Cavallo Point in Sausalito today to buy a gift certificate for a neighbor who had kindly referred a client to me. It was a gorgeous day and breathtakingly beautiful. Located at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge off the first exit into Sausalito, Cavallo Point Lodge exudes rustic elegance in a world class setting. The original buildings at Ft. Baker have been beautifully restored and turned into a lodge, spa, conference center and restaurant.
After purchasing the gift certificate, I wandered into the gift store, the Mercantile, and on the counter found a postcard promoting local artisans selling their handcrafted items this Saturday, for Mother's Day. Featured artisans include Sarah Suloff Jewelry, Bean Up the…

As you might imagine, we have many clients that are either committed to move to Marin but need to sell their home in San Francisco first OR are cross-shopping and are trying to decide which side of the Golden Gate Bridge they want to live on (Marin or SF).
As a company we've been investing a lot of time and energy recently into helping our clients make this decision (or more specifically, researching this decision and exploring their housing options in San Francisco) a little easier.
For those Bay Area real estate "cross-shoppers" as well as those that need to sell in SF prior to moving to Marin, I'm pleased to announce the official re-launch of our San Francisco Modern Real Estate website.

Investment property tips: a few dos and don'ts
Sunday, April 29th, 2012 at 9:54am. 234 Views, 0 Comments.
I have had numerous rental properties in 3 Bay Area counties over the last 12 years and I have come up with a short list of dos and don'ts when buying rental properties that I'd like to share with you. This is just my opinion and I am sure others have different thoughts. Understanding that owning rental property is an interactive investment is most important. Even if you plan on having a property management company help you it is still a hands on investment that will require your time, energy and money.
1. Tax benefits and rate of return: Check with your CPA about how this property will or won't benefit you tax wise. What rate of return is a realistic expectation? How does this real estate investment compare to other investments you could make with…

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Marin Open Studios is a community-wide event that celebrates over 260 artists who open their studios to the public for two weekends. The kick off for Open Studios starts Saturday with wine and nibbles from 5-8 p.m. at the Town Center in Corte Madera. San Rafael City Government Online

I am frequently prompted to go to the City of San Rafael website when a client asks me about their home's permit history or whether they need a permit in order to do some minor remodeling. One recent visit to the site so impressed me by the variety of information and events advertised that I thought I'd share the wealth.
The City of San Rafael has an "epermit" page where you can check your home's permit history by either address or parcel number. On that page you can also check the status of planning projects that have been initiated with the city by a homeowner. The site also provides a list of common remodeling projects requiring permits and has a downloadable form to order city resale inspections if you are about to put your home on the…

We wanted to let our clients and friends know that we are hosting an exclusive event later this month which is designed to educate attendees on the process of building a modern prefab home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Importantly, we've hosted a similar event in the past (with a speaker from Michelle Kaufmann Design) which "sold out" quickly so we wanted to share this information with our blog followers early.
This event - Building a Modernist & Eco-Friendly Prefab Home in the San Francisco Bay Area - will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from keynote speakers from Bay-area based Simpatico Homes, Swatt Architects, Marin Modern Real Estate, East Bay Modern Real Estate and…
