The Dixie Children's Fund

Established in the early 90s, the Dixie School Childrens Fund is a not-for-profit organization established to insure that the high-quality of education at Dixie Schools (Dixie Elementary , Mary Silveira Elementary, Vallecito Elementary, and Miller Creek Middle School) is maintained and expanded.

Contributions to The Dixie Children's Fund help insure that the arts, elementary physical education, middle school counseling, and technology are a fundamental part of every student's education at Dixie...

We wanted to let parents know that San Rafael's Dixie School District will be hosting an open house on Thursday, November 13, 2008.       This special event will enable parents contemplating enrollment during the 2009 and 2010 school year to learn more about Dixie Schools, including Dixie Elementary School, Mary E. Silveira Elementary School, Vallecito Elementary School, and Miller Creek Middle School.

We often get asked by clients and friends for preschool recommendations in Marin County which we are happy to offer.    Truth be told though, selecting the right Marin preschool can be a very personal decision and often requires parents to personally visit schools of interest to select the one that is right for them.

"Excellent Public Schools" is a frequently cited reason why our clients and other Bay Area home buyers gravitate to Marin County.    Forbes Magazine agrees and recently rated Marin County Public Schools #1 in the nation!

In this months issue of Forbes Magazine, Marin County public schools were ranked number one in the United States.   The scoring and ranking of public schools by Forbes Magazine was based on a formula that weighted a number of important variables such as per-pupil spending, graduation rates, exam participation and student scores on college entrance exams including the ACT or SAT.   You can read the entire article and see how other towns across the country fared on the Forbes website.
