March 2016

Found 16 blog entries for March 2016.

Petaluma is hot these days. The train is coming this year. Downtown is vibrant. The restaurants rival the wine country but are significantly less expensive.

I have a condominium  off North McDowell Blvd on the Eastside. Check out the virtual tour at: 124 Park Place 3-D Tour

It has a new kitchen and bath. There are three bedrooms and the master is quite large with a walk in closet. There is both a living room AND a den. Park Place is sunny, clean and best of all QUIET considering its proximity to East Washington and the 101. The courtyard in the back is a small sanctuary with a mediterreanean feel to it and a side gate onto the front. Low HOAs.

Come see it Sunday April 3 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. or call me for a private tour: Anastasia at 415-302-4123.

Renee Adelmann set a sales record for Eichler homes in San Rafael.

I'm delighted to announce that my Eichler listing at 2 Mount Darwin in San Rafael just set an all-time record for price per square foot paid for an Eichler home in our community ($917.99 per sq ft; $1.5 million paid for this 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,634 square foot home).

I enjoyed working with my seller clients to prepare, stage, professionally photograph, and aggressive market their home (both online and offline).   The home received incredible exposure, mutliple offers, and sold for $1,500,000, or $150,000 over the original asking price.

If you are interested in selling your home for top dollar, let me put my experience and unmatched results to work for you!

Near my home in San Anselmo, at 101 San Anselmo Avenue, is the burgeoning success story of MH Bread & Butter, the dream child of owner Nathan Yanko and his wife Devon. Formerly a master baker at the famed Tartine Bakery in San Francisco, Nathan wanted to open a cafe that would feature fresh, healthy food at reasonable prices. The inspiration (and ultimately, the name!)  came from his great, great grandfather, Maximillian Hirtreiter, a German immigrant who settled in New York City, opened the famous MJ Hirtreiter Patisserie, and later married and raised a large family with his childhood sweetheart, who came to New York to meet him after he became established.

Nathan and Devon, well-known local long distance runners, realized their dream in the spring

paul-jensen-3_196_02 The West End Neighborhood Association held its annual meeting this past week.  Paul Jensen, Director of Community Development for the City of San Rafael was the guest speaker.  He updated West End neighbors on a variety of development projects and activities currently underway. Some highlights from the meeting include:

Ace Hardware is coming to the West End - Although it may be a month or two, an Ace Hardware Store will be opening up in what was formerly Yardbirds Plant Nursery.  The space has been sitting vacant for over 5+ years since Home Depot bought out Yardbirds Hardware and Lumber.  I can already hear cheers from the surrounding neighborhoods.  We have all missed Yardbirds and the convenience of a nearby hardware store. It will be a welcome

lyfords_hygeia_427

Just past the town of Tiburon there is a stone tower on the water’s edge. I have stood in this tower and never knew its origin, simply assuming it was a decorative relic installed by the town’s forefathers.  This curious structure was actually erected by a private landowner, with a vision toward creating a planned community, “Lyford’s Hygeia”, dedicated to “healthful living”.  Hygeia means “Goddess of Health”.

Dr. Benjamin Lyford was the man behind the vision, a civil war veteran and physician who made his fame through the invention of an exceptionally effective embalming technique.

Dr. Lyford gained great wealth through his marriage to his patient, Hilarita Reed.  Hilarita’s father was John Reed, the first white settler in Marin.  He

Large Homes in Marin County for under $1M, do they exist?

Considering the latest news articles about the Bay Area market, it may sound unbelievable that you can still find a nice condition, move in ready, large 5BR home in Marin County for under $1M.

I just sold one so I know it is possible. This was a smart buy of my clients who took some calculated risks as they were ready to wait if they had to. But we managed to negotiate the price and this beautiful family home on 95 Portsmouth Dr in Novato is now what they call home. Close to 3,000 sqf, elegant yet practical floor plan. Hardwood floors mixed with soft new carpeting. Granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances dominate oversized kitchen. Master bedroom with walk-in
