There appears to be a growing number of foreign nationals purchasing real estate in the San Francisco Bay Area and most are closing their transactions with all cash. Even wealthy overseas buyers may prefer financing a percentage of the purchase price rather than liquidating their accounts, or would otherwise consider a higher purchase price. The process of securing financing is a bit more complicated, but generally not too difficult, and can be worked through with reasonable speed. Foreign nationals will need to substantiate their income through income tax filings from their native country or, when unavailable, verify income through alternate means, such as with bank statements showing consistent deposits, a letter from their accountant, etc.  Since they…

I just sold this lovely end unit in Edgewater Commons. This turn-key, single level condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms is light and bright.  Great location near downtown Novato, shops, restaurants, parks and more! What a great investment! The new owners had tons of interest when they posted the unit for rent.  It rented one day after closing escrow!  The rental market is so hot!  Why not buy a property and rent it out so someone else can pay the mortgage off for you?  If you are looking for a great investment or a primary residence in Novato, call me!  I would be delighted to help you.  You can reach me at 415-471-6205 or enrica@marinmodern.com. That's the million dollar question for many.  Yes, you could throw a dart at a map but most people will be more thoughtful when it comes to a major life change. Some questions to consider:

  • What is the cost of housing in areas you are considering moving? Do you want a single family home or are you looking for a more carefree lifestyle?
  • Do you have friends and family who live in the area and does that matter to you?
  • Do you want to stay in California or are you casting a wider net?
  • Is being within a couple of hours of a major airport important?
  • Amenities - golf,
