Ross Common is what they call downtown Ross. With a few small shops and restaurants, the post office, and a small park, Ross Common is the center of daily activity. The same family has operated the Ross Grocery for more than 50 years. Residents still pick up their mail at the post office, as there is no mail delivery in Ross – despite the fact it is one of the wealthiest zip codes in the United States. The rich and famous still stroll the streets. Life in Ross is sophisticated and casual.
Ross has retained its rural feel due, in part, to strict zoning restrictions that limit development. Homes are on large properties surrounded by trees and represent a large variety of architectural styles. Some have a vaguely Victorian influence, others are contemporary or mid-century modern in design, and there are many ranch style homes.
