Novato is somewhat of an overlooked treasure.  Even lifelong residents are sometimes surprised by all there is to do in and around this busy city.  In the summertime, Tuesday evenings bring the Farmers Market.  With crafts, carriage rides, and live music there is something to please the entire family.  If structured activities are what you are looking for, the Novato Parks and Recreation department offers year round programs for kids of all ages.  However, it doesn't stop there.  The Novato area has more easily accessible space than just about any other part of Marin.  Hiking, biking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities are sometimes, quite literally, in the back yard.

As the fastest growing real estate market in the county, more new houses were built and sold in Novato during 2006 than any other city in Marin.  Much of the growth has occurred at Hamilton Field, as well as several smaller residential developments.  In addition to the newer subdivisions, there are older established areas with mid-century ranch style homes, and larger properties outside subdivision boundaries.
