Kentfield Real Estate

Situated at the base of Mt. Tamalpais, Kentfield is primarily a quiet residential area.  With the Baltimore Canyon Preserve nearby, Creekside Park extending into Kentfield, and lots of tree shaded streets, there are plenty of places to ride a bike, take an afternoon hike, or a quiet evening stroll. Summers are warm and pleasant, and miss out on most of the famous San Francisco fog; however, with and average rainfall of 47 inches, Kentfield has the reputation of being one of the wettest spots in the Bay Area - and it actually had a trace of snow in 1972!

Distance to Golden Gate Bridge / San Francisco: 14 - 18 miles

Surrounded by beautiful, green, rolling hills, Kentfield is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, but only a short commute from just about everywhere.  With the San Rafael - Richmond Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Larkspur Landing ferry service only minutes away, the East Bay and San Francisco are both easily accessible.  Destinations within Marin County are even closer.  There are few services and little shopping available in Kentfield, but nearby Greenbrae and Corte Madera have just about everything you could need.

Quiet, wealthy, and dignified are terms that can be used to describe Kentfield.  Neighborhoods are wooded and homes are gracious.  There are several neighborhoods in Kentfield.  Del Mesa and Laurel Grove are exclusive areas, with homes that are either modest, lovely, and expensive or grand, lovely, and more expensive.  Kent Woodlands is another prestigious neighborhood with gracious homes, mostly ranch style, on comfortably sized lots.  On Kent Avenue and in Kentfield Gardens you'll find more modest (but still expensive) mid-century homes, many of which have been remodeled.  For those who enjoy the water, there are even a few homes near the lagoon that extends into Kentfield.
