Fairfax California Real Estate
Only about 30 minutes from San Francisco, Fairfax is a fun, family-friendly little town. Another of Marin County's liberal enclaves, the laid-back attitude and small town atmosphere make Fairfax a great place to raise a family. There is a sense of community here; downtown has a real shopping area with a grocery, informal restaurants, and it's all within walking distance of many of the homes in the area.
Distance to Golden Gate Bridge / San Francisco: 17-20 miles

There is something for everybody in Fairfax. In June the biggest weekend of the year centers on the Fairfax Festival. Thousands come to enjoy a parade, food, drink, flea market, and live music. The other weekends of the year can be spent enjoying hiking and biking. Fairfax is the birthplace of the mountain bike, so there are lots of trails in the area. Each Wednesday, June through September, the Farmers' Market comes to town and is a gathering place for the community. Most evenings can be spent listening to the live music offered by the numerous clubs in town.
If you are lucky enough to find a fixer, housing is still fairly affordable in Fairfax. Although there are expensive multimillion-dollar homes, you can also find some relatively modestly priced real estate; remember, however, this means modest by Bay Area or Marin standards. Many homes are located on hillsides and have decks or small yards. There is a definite rural feel to the homes in the area, despite the fact they are only minutes from the urban hustle and bustle of the city.
